Sandy, Tasmanian born and bred
I was born in Tasmania and raised in a small farming community on the Tasman Peninsula.
I’m a registered nurse working primarily in aged care and currently work in an assessment role for service provision to war veterans.
My awakening to Tasmania’s beautiful environment came through two visits to Lake Pedder in 1968 and 1969, prior to its demise.
In hindsight, my involvement with the Franklin campaign was superficial and I have made a decision that this time I will not be a bystander to the ongoing destruction of our old growth forests.
I want to be able to look my grandchildren in the eye and say that I did speak out to save these magnificent forests for future generations.
